What is the difference between the Bogen 3126 and 3130 mounts? I know the descriptions say "quick release" but what is it that quickly releases? Does the mounting plate with the scope attached come off with the quick release option?
Overall though, the prices seem about the same.
I hope to find one of these used if possible for my upcoming Orion ST80.
Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel,
Just a little more info. The quick release plate is about 1.5"x2" and just pops into the top of the head with a cam-lock mechanism. It has a 1/4-20 captive screw that attaches to the scope (and can stay there) so mounting and unmounting the scope is a very easy proposition.
Hope this helps
Phil

The quick release plate for the 3130 is the same as used on the Bogen 3030 tripod head. I use a 3030 head with all of my cameras, including 35mm (with up to 600mm lens,) and 4x5 cameras, both field and monorail types. Very well made and very useful product, much preferred over fumbling with a screw while holding a heavy camera.

Jim,
That is a good price indeed. I've seen you post that elsewhere, but I wasn't able to find it again until now. I would have gone with that probably, but Phil Frederick had a 3130 he offered me for a great price.
Thanks for the responses everyone!
