ghost nebulae around gamma CAS
      #3087855 - 05/06/09 03:04 AM

Hi,

I am in the process of revisiting some old drawings of mine, making them bigger (30cm rather than <10cm), using new drawing tools (blur pencil) and digital finish (place and form of stars, spikes), a mix of standard drawing and electronic means !

Here after is a final rendition of IC 59 and 63 around Gamma CAS seen through the 17.5" coulter at 74x (Hbeta filter was used for the nebulae).

Below are the same fields seen on DSS2 (wikisky.org) and a scan of the original drawing obtained at the telescope.

For the Gamma spikes, I used the following tutorial for photoshop :

clear skies to you, Yann.

Excellent sketch, Yann. It's nice to see the old & new and the photo comparison. Have fun with the rest!

Yann,

This is a beautiful sketch; it is so nice to see the comparison between the photon accumulation of a photo versus the instantaneous rendering of the eye at the eyepiece. This is most enlightening for newbie visual observers wanting to do deep sky observing to the limit.

Frank

Yann,

Excellent observation of IC 59 and 63 around Gamma CAS. The nebulae appear ghostly as intended. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos

Yann,

Excellent contrast between the bright gamma and the subtle nebulosity, really great!

Keep them coming.

Yann,

Outstanding sketch at the scope and I like to see how that transmitted to Photoshop. Nicely done and your details are wonderful.
