Don,

I plan on attending (from Norridgewock.) As a solar affectionado I'm wondering if I may also bring a couple of my solar scopes. The more the merrier I always say!

Regards, Marc

Stellar-Baloo was a success.

If you want to see the 'action' of Stella-Baloo, follow this link or visit the web page on PVSG (gazers.org) or GalaxyMaine where we posted 'yourselves' on YOUTUBE:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy61_TYoWfE&feature=player_embedded

Here are some of the statistics that show how well it was received:

About 50 stickers each were awarded to AstroCat Prowlers by several activity stations. (Night Sky Network activities)

35 Science Lion Certificates were awarded! (Completed an activity at all ten stations.)

The Astro-Science show had over 60 kids and adults.

About 6 8th-grade students attended the evening talk and planetarium lessons. A surprising number of PVSG'ers managed to stay awake that late, too.

17 people had their pictures taken with the Alvan Clark refractor.

We can safely estimate the crowd at over 300 visitors.

There were 14 members of PVSG and 9 Jordan Planetarium staff members working the day plus spouses and friends who supported the project before and during Stella-Baloo.

A truly successful astronomical event for a cloudy day and night!

Dave Clark

Dave,

Great video and it certainly looks like it would have been a lot of fun to attend! I know that it’s tough to run something like this with cloudy weather, but your expeniece shows that it can work out well.

BTW, If Mr. Clark shows up in one of your pictures you have reached a new level of “realism”.
