Can someone tell me how much this thing weighs? Is it made from pipe or tubing? Thanks, Hubert

I just got it and it's an awesome addition to the SkyView AZ. It will fit the Sirius too but haven't tried that yet. But it is heavy, steel pipe I think, about 18 lbs? The AZ with scope attached is light and good for grab and go, but with the pier attached feels heavier than I'd like for G&G. But the height addition is worth it, and the weight keeps it stable as a rock.

I weighed it, came up with 13-14 lbs. Note that there are certain combinations that don't work well with this thing.

Am I correct in assuming that it fits between the tripod and the mount?

I have the Antares 20" half pier where the Orions is 16" & yes I use it on a Meade LXD-75 mount & should be the same on almost every EQ5/CG5 mount

Thank you all for the responses. I have a homemade extension, from sch 80 pipe, I was hoping the Orion unit might be somewhat lighter. Seems it is not. Hubert
