Hi,
I'm looking to use a 8" newt with a giro much such as the William Optics EZ.. is this going to be ok with a 1200 FL 8" newt?.. its around 6.5kg. I'm looking to place the mount on a 2" steel leg tripod (CG5 one)
Thanks Rob

I don't see why not, though I'd go with a counterweight at the other end of the mount for smoother motions on the azimuth axis.

Yes, better than nothing and would be nice compliment to your 8".

It should handle your scope fine. I use my Giro to mount my 12.7kg Tec 140. I balance it with either three 3.5kg counterweights or an SV80S and one 3.5kg counterweight.

Wow guys.. thanks for the photos. Nice kit by the way. I guess the reason I asked is that I've never seen a newt on one of these mounts before. And yes to have my 2 scopes side by side would be fantastic. I guess my CG5 tripod will be ok?.. are there any other Giro mount makes I could look at?.
Thanks Rob
