The way _I_ understand it, the NEQ6 has a Losmandy D compatible dovetail and a longer counterweight shaft. Never heard of an HEQ6...

As far as I know theres an HEQ5, EQ6 and NEQ6 ( they all have the options of being GoTo)

As far as I know the NEQ6 was a beefed up EQ6 with a longer counterweight bar for the Synta/Sky-Watcher 300 scope. Never seen one for sale as s standalone unit in the UK.

i thought they sent me the wrong one i asked the guy that
served me for HEQ6 because i seen it advertised on the net
as HEQ6 and later found out there was no HEQ6 so i assumed
it was a typing error and the EQ6 PRO is called NEQ6 as
you have now pointed out the correct order HEQ5 EQ6 NEQ6
PROs will the NEQ6 have the same pointing tracking
accuracy as the EQ6 now i am worried purchased from
telescope planet £950 it came direct from optical vision
as telescope planet was out of stock and now looking at
the invoice it's a EQ6 PRO SKYSCAN GOTO SUPER HEAVY DUTY
EQUATORIAL MOUNT should i be worried

I thought the NEQ6 is a step up from the EQ6, so you're getting a better mount. I"d say call the manufacturer of the mount to sort all this out and confirm.

This is correct. In addition, the NEQ6 has the dovetail saddle that permits it to mate to a Losmandy D series plate.

My EQ6 pro has been outfitted with an ADM saddle that, except for the longer CW shaft (which I don't need for my current setup), makes it identical to the NEQ6...

Well iyf you wanted an EQ6 with GoTo thats what you have there. The price is cheaper if you shop around. I have seen them for about £890 in the UK.

I dont think anyone sell sand NEQ6 because its adapted for the biggest SkyWatcher scope.

THe bits to create an NEQ6 from an EQ6 (longer weight bar and different saddle) are all available as extras anyway.

What sort of scope will you be mounting on it ?

for the moment c6 and equinox 66 I'm in the process of saving

all my pennies for a c9 or the sky-watcher equinox 120 that's

what i got my mind set on until i start reading the great

reviews here on CN which may sway me to something else

so its an eq6 with added extras and N in front

I have the NEQ6, which the box says is an EQ6 Pro. Nice mount, very few drawbacks from my perspective except:
1. Light in Polarfinder is too bright and turns on with scope. I added a 100K ohm pot with on/off to solve this.
2. CW shaft is still not quite long enough. I added a 3 inch extension which lets me balance my MAK Newt 190 loaded with camera and guide scope.
3. Should ship with three 11 lb weights, not two. I ordered another weight.

Other than that, a wonderful mount. Dead accurate tracking.

Oh, ahah.....

I thought that was just for the HC brightness.

Oh well, it was fun putting the pot in.

A friend looks after the astro kit for the school his kids attend and they have at least one EQ6 Pro. My friend hates the bright LED so when I told him about the handset fix he was sceptical because he's tried everything already but he went to the school to try this anyway.

Over the phone he told me that the handset has the following menus under "Setup Mode/Handset Settings":

*LCD Contrast

*LCD Backlight

*LED Backlight

*Beep Volume

Whatever the "LED Backlight" setting does, my mate said it doesn't alter the brightness of the polar scope LED at all. The firmware version on the one he checked out is 3.24.

Next week he will do the resistor mod too.

So after the revelation from Midnightblue, I went and checked, and sure enough there is a setting for Polar Scope LED. I have V 3.24, so it should be there.

I think I still prefer my little adjustable pot as I don't have to fool around in the HC menu to get at it (self justification maybe? )

I just spoke with my friend again and he confirmed the options I listed above are the only ones available on his handset.

The mounts are Skywatcher EQ6 Pros with version 3.24 of the firmware installed..
