I have a Gibralter mount which I really like; however, would like an AltAz to use it with both my refractors. Can anyone tell me if they've had any experience with attaching the Giro to a Gibralter tripod.
Thanks, Adam

Hi Adam,
I've got both a Gibraltar (tripod head) Ash and a Gibraltar (tripod head) with custom Walnut/Oak legs. I've used both of these tripods with a Tak Teegul(Lapides) and they're very solid tripods.
I've thought recently about mounting a Giro III on one of these so I could mount 2 scopes as well. The Giro III is bored to accept a 3/8-16 bolt and the Gibraltar head is as well--should be no problem. I'm thinking that it should be an improvement over the Gibraltar mount which I was not a great fan of from the beginning--balance is a big issue.
Keep us posted if you go this route--or I will if I grab a Giro before you do!
Phil
