Within just a few feet of a sketch done quite a while ago ( old sketch ), I gathered a few friends to watch the moon rise. The orange slit brought the oooo's and ahhhhh's but the rapid rise brought more comments. It's always a treat to catch the rise with some newbies that have never really aimed to deliberately catch it before. The next day I sketched the scene from memory.

Wonderful sketch. I watched a moonset from the San Gabriel mtns back in the spring of 1990. Your wonderful sketch brought me back there.

Beautiful rendering! Your foreground touches add great depth and a sense of impressionistic realism to the scene.
I have taken many photos of moonrise/moonsets, sunrise/sunsets but there is something about a hand sketched rendering that says so much more.
