Yes, a mosaic sketch... This is a combination of four full 9"x12" pages done over the past few nights which I then traced, accuracy not guaranteed! sorry, I couldn't remove the fog without killing the galaxies, I don't have any fancy editing programs.
Done with Orion XT10. The star field is x38 and in ink, the galaxies are x120 in pencil.

Thank you all very much for your comments. And JimPie for that edit  , no I don't have a problem with you making my sketch look better! I wouldn't have that problem if my camera could take a respectable photograph with the flash off. If I do another like this I'll probably just combine them on the computer rather than trace them to avoid that fog.

Awesome! Very ambitious project!
(I seem to be following in your footsteps, having just sketched M106, M51, and the heart of the Coma Cluster. Didn't have the guts to take the whole thing on, though.  )
