Great session last night via piggybacked ETX-70 OTA and Starlight Xpress CCD cam on some DSOs including this sampler of the 'Whirlpool' M51 eg 10m exp ie 30x20s subs, no darks/flat; rescaled up x1.3 to 1000p and cropped down to 800p wide to suit forum. Good fun and not bad for the little ETX-70

Here's M13 globular in Hercules full size eg uncropped and x2 inset - needs care to avoid burning out the core

M57 in Lyra - the central star continues to elude the little ETX-70 over last two years due, I suspect, to the brightness of the surrounding nebula and slight defocusing eg CA evident from the simple 2-element OG of this hot blue star - right [ ]

Your expertise is ever increasing,my friend. Those are the finest examples of images using the EXT-70 I have ever seen. Did you image at F/5?

Thanks Kenny - yes imaged at native f/5 - was a clear night [for my London backyard!] with mag 4-4.5 visible to eye eg better than normal. Here's the Owl planetary near the Bowl of Big Dipper - the central star of mag?? recorded
Earlier in week at the club night looked at most of these objects through a fine 12" Dob at Headley Heath at 500ft in the Surrey Hills - with the exception of M13 [which was fantastic] the little ETX-70, via these images from home, vastly outperformed the Dob especially on galaxies

last DSO for evening eg galaxy M94 in CVn - the subtle spiral form is not evident in this ETX image but a bright H2 region is like a 'tail' extending from left lower edge of galaxy - check it out on Google images.

Kenny - didn't intend to do ANY DSOs that evening after a BBQ at our daughters but just record asteroid Ceres [#1] in Leo again to show its movement and maybe Saturn nearby - 3 sats captured close in here

I've made a short video of the seven deepsky objects taken recently via my piggybacked ETX-70 OTA - hope it's of interest

Here's the reworked M13 shot used in the video - wonder how many of these stars you can 'see' through the ETX-70 eyepiece with mark 1 eyeball

I'd love to have that view of M13 directly at the eyepiece with my old eyeball and my ETX-70!

Thanks Seeker [us oldtimers here!], Patrick and Kenny for your interest. One correction - the M13 shot taken in 100s exposure and not 10min etc as I've erroneously quoted
