Atco (H.O.C.) 80mm x 1200mm on MN Craigslist new [Re: Awesomelenny]
      #3239307 - 07/26/09 12:08 PM

RARE! H.O.C. mfg. 80mm x 1200mm scope on MN Craigslist. Could this be RugRat's recent find? If so, I'm sorry to hear of his misfortune and wish him well.

That Manon is a sweet little scope but the objective is off the ota and loose in the box! These are made so that you must remove the objective to slide the tube from the yoke, but the yoke needn't be removed to return it back to the case! I hope it was never carried like a suitcase as it's now displayed! That would be a shame!

Someone might be interested in this: Edmund reflector, although probably not for the asking price.

How about this baby i bought in 1978 at 11 yrs old. I am pulling it out of storage and wondering about getting a computerized celestron advanced series GEM for it.

P.S. I am wondering how the optical quality would stack up to a new 6 inch newtonian today ????? Anyone know ?????

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.

Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

One for Preston, i hear he is afraid of spiders but maybe the Edmund variety don't bite? It is close to home Preston, and look at the set of eyepieces?

Thanks Brian! But I only look into a mirror when I'm in the bathroom and that scares me quite enough! I'm a refractor dude unless someone wants to deliver a pristine 10" Cave to my house for less than $200! And THAT ain't gonna happen on this side of Eternity!

Littlegreenman has a 60mm Unitron OTA in the classifieds here.

I've bought lots from LGM, he's very professional and packs things well.

That's the little Edmunds 3" f/10 reflector. Not bad for nostalgic purposes but without the original finder it's not for me. Mike

Hi Brian --

Yep - got 'em. I've got a couple other Vixen 0.965 orthos and really like them. Now I'm hoping to find a couple reasonably priced / less expensive Zeiss .965's and maybe the 40mm M44 EP to fit in a Zeiss turret that holds three 0.965's and one M44 eyepiece (that's attached to a Telementor II ;-)

8" Starfinder Dob on Columbia, MO craigslist new [Re: donnw]
      #3254295 - 08/04/09 07:57 PM

OK, maybe not a classic in the strictest sense, but if this isn't already gone (it was posted on 7/19/2009) then somebody can snag an 8" dob for $50. Granted, the mechanics of the Starfinder dob don't measure up to today's offerings, but if you're in the market for some parts this might fill the bill. Ad says mirror is tarnished which could be anything from dirt to fungus so be sure to check it out. Here's the link:

8" Meade Starfinder Dob

I'm not the seller.
