Upon further evaluation of the photographs, especially looking at the size relationship of the focuser to the diameter of the fiberglass tube, this COULD BE A CAVE OPTICAL CO. 12.5-INCH, 14.25-INCH, OR 16-INCH. Cave used that same mounting design on those Observatory scopes. If so, then the seller's "inherited" reflector telescope is an extremely rare one.

A classic Criterion RV-6 Dynascope reflector telescope on the Maine Craiglist. The ad for the vintage 6-inch F/8.3 Newtonian was placed on June 11, 2009. The link to the website is:
http://maine.craigslist.org/pho/1217227078.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
These older Criterion scopes seem to appear in the secondary marketplace on a regular basis.

A small scope that gets used often is a better investment than a big scope that stays in the closet.
Unitrons, you spend more time looking at them than you do through them.

That NY scope looks like a sweet scope. I believe those are rotating rings holding the OTA. Too bad I cannot go see it and pick it up in person.

I would have guessed 10", maybe 12.5". Looks like a Cave.
If the seller on craigslist is hard to reach or make arrangements to see the scope, I'd suspect a scam. If it's a scam, it ought to be flagged. Does anyone recognize these photos from another ad somewhere?

This was posted a while back and someone here was pursuing it at that time. Couldn't tell you how long ago though.

8" Newt on orange co., CA craigslist: 8" Newt
The ad lacks photos, but based on what little description there is, I got to wondering if it might be an old Meade or Cave. I sent the seller an email, and will let folks know what I learn (unless it's a rare bird in fantastic condition, in which case I'll hie myself on down there, pick it up, and THEN tell you about it! )

Also on OC, CA craigslist.

The ad has already been pulled. I'm wondering if this was the Selsi refractor sorta new in the box. If so, then I'm the one that has it.

A large Parks? Newtonian reflector is listed on the Hudson Valley, New York Craigslist. It was posted on June 11, 2009. The mounting design is decidedly different yet similar to a Cave Astrola. (My understanding is that Parks purchased the casting patterns after Cave went out of business.)
The size of the telescope is hard to judge, but my best guess is a 10-inch with a focal ratio of about F/7. Interesting story as how the owner "inherited" the scope. (How many of us have moved into a house with a classic telescope just sitting there? I wouldn't mind getting another Sears 90mm that way!!!)
The link to the ad is:
http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/for/1196398526.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
What is this telescope? Opinions?
Looks like a Cave 2.5" Shaft mount. My guess it's a 12.5" Cave observatory.

I talked to the seller. It's a homebuilt on an altazimuth mount (though I haven't seen pics). He said that the mirror was made by someone in Santa Ana. He had the mirror tested by members of the Riverside Telescope Makers about 10 years ago, and they said that it was optically very good.
I'm probably going to let this one go, but if the seller sends me more info on it, I'll pass it along here in case someone is interested.

Ok, I've left yet another phone message to Aaron re the poss. Cave scope. One month ago, I had a scheduled appt. to go see it etc... When I called to confirm directions/etc before I left (as agreed by phone 2 days before), no answer to his phone. I left multiple messages then (as I had taken time off to go look at Aaron's scope) .. Never a response. So ... on good faith ... One more try today to connect with him as I live very close by to Accord. So far .. no response. -alexander

I have a Meade RG mount and that mount in the CL ad looks nothing like a Meade mount.
It sure looks like a Cave 2.5" mount, as for the OTA who knows.

it is more that likely a Cave. The pictures to small and my eyes to old to tell!! The tangent arm and the flat style cradle reminds me more of the RG than my Astrola. I have never seen a 2.5 Astrola mount. The tube looks like it has a cave plaque on it.

I have a Cave 2.5" observatory mount, but mine has a threaded shaft. On the Meade RG mount you would notice the round Dec lock knob just above the setting circle.

My guess is sometime during the Comet Halley daze. I've seen these sold under Tasco and Jason as well. Tanzutsu seems to be the Japanese watermark.
Here is a review of Celestron's Tabletop 76 which seems very similar to Swift's little scope. It was not well received.
