Lets hope he had it in the original shipping container he mentioned. I sure would like to see some close ups of the mount. I wonder how good/bad the optics were in these and who supplied them.

Did he really just stand that OTA up with the Mirror hanging on the retaining clips?? YIKES!
I've never seen one of these before. Didn't know they made a 12".
-Tim.
I know they made optics that big. I can't tell from the pic who or what made the EQ- mount.

If this is an Edmund mirror it is actually 12.5 inches in diameter. Per the 1981 catalog the mirror was figured to 1/8 wave. I have a set of these optics but not mounted so I can't provide a star test. There are reports (from Telescope Making magazine) that these are excellent optics.

Nice looking Cave on ebay item number: 270426962447 Not mine but someone here maybe interested
Hey Albert: Does this scope look like a 12.5 ? Looks small compared to the scope in your pictures. Wow two 12.5 caves and and a 12.5 Edmund in the last week, but all on the wrong coast

Unusual ad. They can post a picture from the manual but can't post a real picture of the scope? Anyway for $150 may be worth some further investigation if you live on that side of the planet.LOL

I really would like to have this scope. I want to give it to my brother who has expressed an interest in astronomy. What better way to start him out than a vintage scope. Alas, the owner is not willing to ship it. Story of my life. Here's the link if any of our CN friends up that way are interested or have a soft spot for a "brother in need".

I had one of those Jason 313s. It is an excellent performer. Good deal on that one, if it was here I'd snag it. Rich

A classic Tasco 60mm F/17 equatorial refractor telescope, most likely Model #7TE-5, on the Seattle-Tacoma Craigslist. The ad was posted on July 19th, 2009:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/for/1278501847.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
From an examination of the photograph, I do not see either a wooden storage chest and the telescope is missing the declination counterbalance weight. However, for the asking price of $35 I think that it is worth the effort to either make your own or to find a replacement.
(I do not think that the scope is Tasco's #7TE with a focal length of 910mm.)

For you Unitron collectors who are missing or wish to add a 40mm viewfinder with matching brackets to your refractor telescope. You don't see these too often on CL by themselves. The ad was posted on July 19th, 2009, and the link to the website is:
http://denver.craigslist.org/for/1278407973.html (I am not the seller of the viewfinder.)
These came as standard equipment on Unitron's 4-inch Model No. 152 equatorial refractors. They were also advertised in Sky & Telescope for many years separately for $18.00. This one appears to be from the 1960s.

Has this scope been advertised before?

A classic Tasco #10TE 3-inch F/16 (D=76.2mm F=1200mm) equatorial refractor from the 1960s or '70s is listed on the Orange County, California Craigslist. The ad was posted on July 13th, 2009, and the link is:
http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/spo/1267421685.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
This is the registration number of the model without the motor drive unit. If it was the #15TE Planetary, there would be a 'C' after the number sequence.
Have any of our members inspected this particular telescope? Is it complete and what is the overall condition?

This is one time that a photograph would sure help. The ad mentions that the scope is an old 'ADCO' (ATCO) telescope with wooden case and tripod. Is it a 60mm or 76.2mm model? These are collectable and usually very well made. However, a 60mm F/15 unit usually sells in the $100-200 range. The larger 76.2mm models are far scarcer and worth more.
The link to the ad is:
http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/for/1270962696.html (I am not the seller of the telescope.)
Has anyone requested photographs from the seller? What is the model and aperture of the telescope?

A red-tubed Coulter Optical Co. 10.1-inch F/4.5 Odyssey I Dobsonian telescope on the Austin, Texas Craigslist. The ad was posted on July 20th, 2009, and the link is:

These are fairly common on Craigslist. Comments?
