I don't see the rest of the clamshell there to repair it with JB Weld. I think that's about it for the price in that condition.

Funny: that's the same stuff I used to repair a shipment-broken ring on my Vernonscope 4" newt...

Looks like the same scope that's on ebay.

That Pentax J60 dicussed earlier brought Goodwill nearly a $330 profit. It sure was a nice looking scope and all. I looked at it first hand and I guess to a Pentax collector it was worth every penny. Like I said I'm probably too ignorant to appreciate the value of some scope pedigrees. If someone from CN bought this item please share your findings with us when you take possession. Mike

That one is in my neck of the woods. I've sent an inquiry about it.

Sic' 'em, David!

Maybe it's one of those early Takahashi Swifts?

Or not.

(Good luck...I think).

David, I have had several emails back and forth with the owner of this scope when the add first ran. It is a Tower #6335 D76mm X 1200mm scope. I have made two offers since then and no response after repeated attemps, so I don't know if he sold it or did not like the offers. I hope you have better luck with him.

Thanks for the info. I probably don't have enough reserves myself for a scope this size.

Collectable Tasco #7TE-5 on SF Craigslist new [Re: Glassthrower]
      #3158413 - 06/12/09 12:16 AM

A vintage Tasco 2.4-inch F/17 on the San Francisco, Calif. Craigslist. This particular model by Tasco was very popular during the 1960s and '70s. It was made in Japan by Royal Astro Optical Industries Co., Ltd.

The equatorial refractor along with accessories and wooden storage chest was posted on June 10, 2009. The link is:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/clt/1214823905.html
(I am not the seller of the telescope.)

Has anyone from that area already looked over this particular scope?

Parks/Clave clone on Hudson Valley, NY Craigslist new [Re: Glassthrower]
      #3158419 - 06/12/09 12:28 AM

A large Parks? Newtonian reflector is listed on the Hudson Valley, New York Craigslist. It was posted on June 11, 2009. The mounting design is decidedly different yet similar to a Cave Astrola. (My understanding is that Parks purchased the casting patterns after Cave went out of business.)

The size of the telescope is hard to judge, but my best guess is a 10-inch with a focal ratio of about F/7. Interesting story as how the owner "inherited" the scope. (How many of us have moved into a house with a classic telescope just sitting there? I wouldn't mind getting another Sears 90mm that way!!!)

The link to the ad is:

http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/for/1196398526.html
(I am not the seller of the telescope.)

What is this telescope? Opinions?

John,

That 7te-5 was apparently snapped up quickly after the ad was posted Terrapin, you're alert and sleepless in the Bay Area... any luck?

Older 6" Newtonian w/eps on Balitmore Craigslist new [Re: Glassthrower]
      #3158443 - 06/12/09 12:56 AM

Ads like this are worth investigating further. A photograph almost always clinches the brand of scope, but in this case speculation leans toward a vintage Edmund or Criterion RV-6. A home-built scope is another possibility. The type of eyepieces (7) and Barlows (2) would indicate a classic Criterion RV-6.

The ad was posted on May 28th, and the link to the website is:

http://baltimore.craigslist.org/for/1193492928.html
(I am not the seller of the telescope.)

Has anyone from that area discovered what this instrument actual is?

I spoke with Aaron 1 1/2 months ago... Hmm fishy story, unreliable phone tag, he's advert for a friend ..etc ..
I'm really cautious now as I was set to go look at it...Zero return of phone calls etc.. very odd.
I'd say caution here.
Ps.. I was wondering if this would surface again soon.
