M10, M12, M14 with a 60mm refractor

Yesterday I took my little 2.4" refractor outside again to sketch some of the Ophiuchus globulars. An aperture of 60mm is of course not enough to resolve stars in the clusters, but the wide fields it gives (over 3 degrees) make the views quite overwhelming.
M10 and M12 just fitted within the field of my LVW 22mm, but very close to the edges. Therefore I combined two LVW22 fields in one image. In larger scopes the cluster are said to be very different from each other, but in my little scope they look just like twin brothers, equally in brightness and size.
M14 also showed no resolved stars, but I find the image of a tiny fuzzball in a pretty rich star field very pretty. M14 was fainter than M10 and M12.

Roel,
Excellent observations of M10, M12, and M14. These are accurate views through your 60 mm aperture refractor. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Roel, Beautiful renderings! Like Eric, I too like the 'combined' M10/M12 view.
Don't discount the power of a humble 60mm aperture. many years ago I racked up the magnification on my short focus 60mm, f/7 'scope until the exit pupil was less than 0.5mm (magnification *at least* 120X.) I could actually resolve several of the brightest giants in M13. I'm sure M22 and M4 would have been easier still.

Roel,
Not only a great capture but gorgeous sketching. And we all especially love that double field sketch of M12 and M10.

Love the double-field one, Roel. Cool idea and very artistic presentation.
(Nice fade on the bright field stars too. They look very realistic.)
Cheers, -- Jeff.

Your sketches are very pretty, and true to what globulars look like in a small telescope.
