Since I cannot get mt scope to power up, the LNT viewfinder is useless. I am thinking about trying the Telrad Reflex Sight on it. Any opinions? Should I get the standard Meade 828 8x50 finderscope?
Also, does anyone know if the jack on the side of the LNT is a power jack? If so, does anyone know voltage/polarity/size?

I would recommend the Rigel Quickfinder-- see these--

Thank you for the input. From that review, looks like the Telrad is a better choice. Why do you recommend the Rigel for the ETX125?

The Jack on the side of the LNT unit is for the atomic clock update module.

Why does your scope not power-up? Did you replace the batteries? Is the Autostar Dead? Or is it that you just don't have a need for a scope with the tracking capabilities of the PE?

IMO this scope can benefit from using a finder,even if it's operating properly and used in the manual mode. A RDF similar to the one Orion sells as the reflex deluxe would be handy tool. I wish this finder existed when I owned my EXT-125.

Long story of what I've checked so far with the power issue, see my other post. I just received my Telrad last night. I haven't had a chance to use it due to South Florida weather, but as far as the size, I think it is ok on the ETX-125. I'll post an update as soon as I get to actually use it.

Eric I went back and reviewed your other posts. Have you contacted anyone at an Astronomy Club near you? If not there is a list at:

This lists all of the Florida Astronomy Clubs. Members of Astronomy Clubs almost always have a member or two that has the talent to assist in finding the problem with your scope. They just need to dig into the scope and find the problem. The ETX scopes are so common, someone in the club is likely to have one that could try their cables and controllers with your scope. It could be a damaged wire or blown circuit board or the like you should be able to trace the problem to and get a replacement item once the problem is narrowed down. Club members would also likely know where to obtain the items without having to deal with Meade directly.

I used a Daisy red dot on my ETX127 along with the cheesey optical finder it came with. Less than $10 bucks. Heck it's a 5" Mak, It's not for DSO work, but is a geat solar system scope. Brighter DSOs ar eay enough to find, especailly with the COL. Good luck fixing your scope, hope it's something simple.
