Boy that's fast ... just don't get in it's way. Can you imagine what it would do to an errant cable that got caught? (yes I know all the cables are likely threaded through the mount).

It's the only mount I know of with an emergency kill switch...just in case it slews while you are adjusting focus...

So, with all the 'floppin' about, will the mirror flop get any better ???? Me thinks NOT!

As a nice by-product, it automatically dims the lights in the surrounding neighborhood... <rimshot> seriously have you seen the power it takes to do that?
On two serious notes, #1 what an incredible location, and #2 I do not want my eqpt to slew that fast and I would turn it way down.

2200 W from my figures - lucky it only does those slews in emergencies..
Fastest telescope in the world .. in a vineyard.. poor guy.. life must be terrible.. 2400 clear daylight hours a year..what would you do...
Just found out that it won't focus properly - million dollar telescope doesn't have a motorised focuser!!!

The question asked was on the money: will the Celestron mirror survive or can they start collimating directly after this demonstration. I'm happy enough with the slew speed on my CGEM
