Double Rainbow new
      #3151781 - 06/08/09 06:29 AM Attachment (50 downloads)

I was able to view a rare double rainbow (at least for me) while experiencing our rainy weather in South Florida at the beginning of the hurricane season (June 1-December 1). It is difficult to capture the delicate nature of a rainbow and I have to practice on these ethereal showpieces of nature. I made the observation on June 6, 2009 at 06:30 P.M. EDT. It was much more striking in person!

A digital image produced in Gimp.

Carlos,

Very nice sketch of the double rainbow. Not only did you capture the color reversal in the secondary but as is always the case with a rainbow the inside of the arc shows a much brighter sky than beyond the outside of the arc. Check any good photo of a rainbow and you will see this is always true.

Very jolly sketch, we get a lot of them here, they always make me stop and stare, the colors so rich and so temporary .

nice sketch carlos, a very difficult target to draw!
i do think though that the colors of the secondary rainbow should be in reversed order (from violet to red outwards), this is always the case, iirc

Thank you all for the kind compliments on my double rainbow observation. These beautiful objects of nature are difficult to capture in their glory. I will have to practice rendering them in the future.

May you all enjoy many rainbows in the future.

Carlos
