Sagitta is a small but fascinating constellation. It fits completely in a common pair of binoculars. A fine bonus is offered by the presence of the loose globular, M71. This globular is visible as a hazy spot between Gamma and Delta Sagittae. The object is flanked by two mag 11 stars, one NW of the cluster and one S of the cluster. My 15x70’s shows both Gamma and Delta in one field of view. The whole field gives a great sense of depth. Gamma Sagittae (near the left edge of the sketch) is relatively nearby with a distance of 260 l-y. Delta Sagittae’s distance is about 460 l-y. M71 on the other hand is 13.000 l-y away, hovering at the edge of the galactic plane. From our line of sight towards M71, we probably have to look through a large portion of the dust and gas clouds of the galactic plane. It occurs to me that a lot of M71’s light might be blocked by interstellar absorption.
My choice of binoculars was the 15x70 (compared to my 8x56) to conquer the sky glow of our midsummer nights.

Rony,
Excellent sketch of this very nice globular in Sagitta. It is always a treat to view this globular on a clear summer night and like T5 says you can use little Sagitta to move to M 27. Great sketching, those of us sketching in Chicagoland are waiting for a break in our strange weather.

Rony,
A beautiful and accurate observation and report of Sagitta and M71. You have recorded the star field surrounding M71 perfectly. The stars appear to glow in your rendering. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Hi Rony
Once again a very nice sketch.
What is amazing is that you need dark adaptations to see more details. It's really like looking through a real telescope.

Rony,
Beautiful rendering with exceptional detail. It does indeed appear as though one is viewing this through an actual eyepiece.

Incredible! The amount of stars in your sketch is just breathtaking. Because of the good rendering of their differences in brightening it looks very realistic. I also like the subtle contrast between both M71 and the surrounding field. It's very tempting to exaggerate contrast in a deepsky sketch, but you always make it just right.
I've read on your site that you're planning to publish your observation in a book. I'd be the first one to buy a copy!

Thanks, guys, for the kind words.
@Roel : Binoculars take in a lot of field, and also milkyway stars. The view from a realy dark site can be very discourageing to sketch from.
