The LS is targeted at a very different market than the more conventional SCT's. For example you could also pick up an LXD75 SC8 with ACF optics for about the same price. However, whereas some may find the LXD75 to be too much of a handful, they may also find the gadget-factor of the LS to be attractive.
Different scopes for different folks.

WEll i think it will be a good scope, but just visual and some AP , and i think it will be a bite better than the SE in tracking (much better motors and steel wheels).... but yes one problem is that its only one arm (even if you see it quiet solid after watchin the youtube video wtihout the plastic covers).
Why they dont just remake the ETX line with the internals of this one (motors, steel wheels) and make the arms a bite higher to use more accesories on the backport (without hiting the base), make a bite more robust so maybe you can piggiback a small refractor (66mm ) and you may get AP in better level, put USB ports 1 (please the new handcontroll can use usb ports...this is a wish i have..dump already that phone connections..they are old!) or 2 and thats it (we dont need SD cards readers, or video out for some funny tips, or some speaker telling us why they call the pleiades the 7 sisters!) if they can do that they surely they will have a winner! (i dont care to pay 100 dls more or 150 more of the actuall price for this modifications!) Imagine a litle LX-90 but just with the ETX OTA's !!! that would be awseom, and asap i woud buy one ! The LS looks more for the gadget freak!
Ohh one more thing..pleaseee meade make my wish come true!! and repair the focus mechanism on the ETX line...image shift its a pain!

One arm does NOT mean less steady necessarily. The Celestron NexStars are fine in that regard, and the legenday OTI Quantums also used one-arm-bandits.
Not completely sure what you mean by "bite"..."bit"? I wouldn't look for many changes in the standard ETX line at this time...the new CEO of Meade is keeping them in production, but we'll have to wait and see whether new models of the MCTs come out.

"...the relative freedom from coma makes the collimation of the ACF scope much less critical than that of a SCT."
Is this true? I thought miscollimation degraded the entire image, centrally as well as peripherally; the ACF optics improves coma near the edge of the field of view. Maybe I'm wrong, but the Meade people have told me that collimation was important for the ACF optics, also.

well i saw the internals of the LS and the worm wheels look great...i wonder why meade dont put the same on the ETX line and a bite better servo motors...i glady would pay 100 to 150 dls more of the actual price for it!! make the arms bigger, and you have a winner!

Yes. Important but not critical. You won't get the best performance unless the collimation is near perfect but you do get significantly better performance from the ACF optics when, as usual, the collimation is some way out.
Assuming the optics are centred, collimation consists of getting the corrector plate, primary and secondary mirrors parallel to each other - in practice with commercial SCTs you can only correct the tip of the secondary.

It's not true. Poor collimating will ruin the images of any SCT across the _whole_ field; not just on the edges, coma si or coma no.

My scope shipped and I'll be getting it on Tuesday. Has anyone seen any sites offering accessories or carrying cases for the ETX-LS yet?

I saw the ETX-LS 25e ATT in Essen (Germany). In Europe you can buy it in September 2009. Only the "ACF". The official price is 1645 Euro ( $ 2195,=) That is a lot of money.

Astroshop is the first shop in Germany who gives a date and price of the ETX-LS.
