Hello dear friends,
because of the rainy weather here, I have made a few more pics indoor. I have cleaned the hole scope and refurbished the wooden cabinets.
The hole setup is very heavy and feels like high quality mechanical and optical workmanship. It weighs around 31 kg !
Here is the first new pic :
It shows nearly the original setup with the Tasco Panhead cameraholder like it has been pictured in the original Tasco 1978 catalog ! The only thing, thats not original is the 8x50 finder instead the original 15x40 finder scope.

The mount is very sturdy - a fantastic mechanical work ! For comparison I find it much more stable than a EQ5 or Vixen GP !

The setting circles are fine engraved, not printed ! There's no plastic on the mount and the scope. Only the caps, and some mount knobs are from plastic. The other materials are all metall, glass and wood.

And now for the fans of the opticals desingn - here is the mysterious barlow-element. It is screwed in front of the secondary mirror and looks like a little achromatic objective.

a overview about the mirrors. In pos. 1 you can see the parabolic main-mirror, in pos. 2 you can see the secondary mirror in its setup with the attached barlow element ( arrow-mark )

a lttle nice detail from the wooden cabinet. On the clips(?) for closing the cabinet is a dogs head engraved ! Maybe Galakuma knows this sign or manufacturer ?

This is so far all from me by now. Well, as I said before, I want to write a little article about this scope with more and better photos. But only if you are interested ! I will not boring you ! But : my english is not so perfect - my suggestion is, that I could write an article with photos and save it as a Word-file ( *.doc ). If someone here is willing, I coulkd send my article to him/her for correcting my faults in english text. But I dont know, if its possible, to publish a bigger word-file here in the forum ? ( I guess, for a publishing in the CN-classic-reviews, my article would not good enough...or to boring ). What do you think ?
Kind regards, Michael and thanks for reading this !

Nice Pics. Thanks for sharing. Your english is great Aaron. You should definitely write a review.
I have not seen a mount like that before. Has anyone else seen a mount like that other than on a Tasco?

Aaron.....As you have now witnessed first hand Tasco didn't market too shabby of a product. Your 16T and my 20TE are prime and rare examples of each type of scope. Mike

Mikey , it's allways a pleasure to see your marvelous 20TE - an absolutly dream !! Fantastic !!!!!!
I'm allways wondering, why Tasco had pictured it so small in their 1978 catalog ? I mean, that was the most "professional" telescope from Tasco and it had should been the eyecatcher in a telescope-catalog !?
Maybe Tasco knows in 1978 soon, that the 20 TE is a rare beast ?? I guess, if you wanted to order a 20TE in 1978, you have long long to wait for it ?...
Kind regards, Michael

Aaron...I can't tell for sure but is your finder mounted in the original rings. Are you going to actively search for a 15x40 finder? Most of these finder types say 12x40 is this what you meant to say? Mike
