Hello friends!
There is an opportunity about a vintage Asahi Pentax 60mm here in my city with a really good price. I would like some feedback about this scopes. I don't know anything about its quality optics or mechanics.

I dont know the price conversion in US dollars but if it reasonable you should buy it.

I own one and the optics are among the best of all the 60mm telescopes I own. If the price is reasonable, but it. I paid arund $300 for mine and am very happy with it.

I sold one to Preston. He gave a very detailed review of the scope. Search "Online article about Asahi Pentax! " by hasburg8 i tried to link it but i can't get it to work SORRY.( maybe someone can help and link it). I think Preston is away at the moment but his review pretty much covers it. I have a 50mm Jupiter and a 60mm Jupiter, the 60mm is the exact same scope as the Pentax i sold to Preston and the scope you are interested in. My 60mm Asahi Jupiter gives fantastic views with limited CA, and nice contrast. The build quality is really nice for a 60mm built back when. The focuser is incredibly smooth, the one piece lens cell and dewshield are a work of art, the tube is nice thick gauge aluminum, i don't have the eyepieces that came with the scope but i have heard nothing but praise about them. I hope this gives you an idea about the quality of the Pentax you are interested in Edwin. I really like my Jupiter even though i will be selling it shortly because my Zeiss is marginally better optically and i have too many scopes. Good luck.

I may not have been very clear on this, but there was never a Zeiss model called the E60. I call my telescope this, because it has a 60mm "E" objective (doublet achromat, either Steinheil or Fraunhofer type, both f/14). The model name of the telescope is "Asedabais", which is simply the codename for ordering this specific model through telegraph or mail.
If the same model had a "A" objective (doublet kurzflint apochromat, f/17.5), it was called "Asalven". A triplet "B" objective (broken triplet apochromat, f/14, in early versions you could choose from f/12 to f/15 and very early "B" objectives are symmetrical designs) meant it was called "Asalvento". These three names were if the mount had slow motion controls. If these were not fitted, the model numbers were "Asedadme", "Asalvenme" and "Asalveo", respectively. I think you can see why I simply call it the "E60"! Some time after WW1, the six models were simply renamed the "Asegur" and then you ordered the objective and accessories you needed, though there was a basic version.
Oh, and I have a rare version, as my "Asedabais" comes with a Fraunhofer-type "E" objective, and the standard was the Steinheil configuration. You had to specifically order the Fraunhofer version when ordering. When was the last time you saw a commercial 60mm with the choice of four different objectives?

Thanks for your responses, friends. I have got the Asahi Pentax. It was bought in 1969 "in order to see the man`s arrive on the Moon". It is in good general shape, but it is pretty dirty.
The main issue is oxide spots in the chrome parts in the focuser drawtube, finder scope and mount handles for micro adjust.
Any suggestion about that?
Optics needs some care too. No scratchs, just dirty.
OTA presents paint flaws. It needs repaint it. The OTA has a dent, and I don`t know how to correct it. I`m not very handy...
I would like to repair it and leave it as the Preston`s one! 
But the scope came with three eyepieces of 0.965": 20mm, 12.5mm and 6mm. And a vintage Tasco Barlow 2x 0.965". Even the booklet 40 Y.O.! Also, the wooden case.
It has a weird "solar filter" and the diagonal is in very good condition.
I will post some pics soon.

Even a Pentax 60mm would disappoint the owner if they expected to see that.
Congratulations on a fine scope, Edwin. I have a the tabletop Pentax Jupiter 50mm /F11, and use it regularly for solar observing! Very well built!

I used fery fine steel wool to clean the oxidation spots off an old Bogen tripod. I don't know about using it on a telescope, or painted surfaces, tho...unless you are going to repaint.
For repainting prep, I prefer steel wool over sand paper, but thats just me.
