Where to buy tube inserts?
      #3194775 - 07/02/09 10:24 AM

I'm having a hard time finding threaded tube inserts online. What I'm looking for are these:

http://www.meridiantelescopes.com/inserts.htm

...except that I only need 8, not a package of 50.

Obsession has them for $3 each, but they don't list the tube wall and you have to mail a check because they don't take card payments online. Argh.

All I need is 8 threaded inserts that will fit 1" OD aluminum tube with a 0.05" wall.

Where else can I find them?

The link you gave to Meridian has them in packages of 8. Do you think those won't fit the ID of your poles? I have bought multiple times from Meridian and always have been quite pleased. I even bought an 8-pack of these very inserts too.

If that doesn't work though, check with Dennis at Dobstuff. He has inserts of all sizes. I would expect the Meridian 8-pack to be fine though. They're likely the same inserts as McMaster sells anyway.

No, you're giving me too much credit, lol. I'm blind, that's all. Wow, how did I miss that?

Yep that'll work too. Funny, I went to McMaster-Carr already and couldn't find them. I tried different names but never 'tube connector'.
