It's been a long time since I submitted anything here. Weather, time, and other priorities have all conspired against me, but anyway, here I am.
I've been trying the moon in black, with so many wonderful sketchers here doing white on black to give me good examples to try to follow.
Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus, and Arzachel form a well-known trio. Nestled in between, the smaller Alpetragius struggles for attention. I decided to focus on just Arzachel, but included the other since it really formed an attractive target. I've been trying to sketch larger, so the target area nearly filled the page side to side (I'm not sure why the scanner cut me off, though).
Thanks for looking!

Tom,
Nicely done! I really like the contrasts that you have in the sketch that bring out the highlights of the craters.

Tom,
This is a beautiful sketch. I like the texture of your white pencil on the black background. You have included excellent details.

Excellent sketch Tom! Nice work on the crater walls and central peaks. Arzachel's dome-like peak has always looked so out of place to me, reminds me of an ostrich egg in a sparrow's nest! It looks like you really had fun sketching this one. Beautiful results!

Tom,
Wow! This is a magnificent sketch.
Your choice of tools and the larger scale really pay off.

Great sketch, Tom. I'm starting to enjoy these sketches more than photos.

Beautiful close-up sketch work of this crater. I can appreciate the details you've attained here as I strive to do these more often lately with strained eyesight.
I espeically like the minimal blending and that you allowed the impression of paper texture to come through. Parts of the craters rim seem to float in a three-dimensional effect. Very nice!

Mark, your commentary is very generous, thank you.
I feel like I get my best 3-D effects when I don't try for it - just sketch what the eye sees, without trying to "interpret" it onto the paper. But it's kind of hit and miss.
I need more clear nights! But don't we all.

Tom,
An excellent observation of Arzachel. You have recorded this crater very nicely. The floor and terraced walls are well rendered. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
