Just saw the info in S&T on this. Does anyone have further info on it? Anyone take the leap yet or too soon? I would assume it would kill the warranty on my PST. Not sure that would matter too much with the stories about current Meade repair service quality. Denk is a reputable company and would not seem there is too much risk. For another $600 investment you get the added aperture, 600mm focal length, upgraded focuser knob, and an enlarged block filter. The picture of it does show an almost Galilean looking scope with this very long, slender tube.

In keeping with our policy on modifying PSTs, I am going to lock this thread pending moderator review. Many of our moderators and admins will be gone for the weekend so it may take a few days before a decision is reached. Please be patient and do not start any other threads on this subject.

It has been decided that we will allow discussion of the Denkmeier offering, but retain our policy concerning homebrew versions.

The Denkmeier Upgrade offers not only the aperture from 40 to 60mm , but also the BF from 5mm to 10mm or even 15mm. I wonder if the ITF filter was replace also?
If that is so , anyone with a rusted ITF would worth taking up the upgrade, after all the cost of replacing the ITF is around usd100 already.
anyone any info is the ITF was also replace?

That's my question. Wondered if this is still too new or if anyone has updated yet. Maybe need to wait a couple of months from now to get any idea. All I can say is that for the money it does seem to be a good deal if Denk can keep to their level of performance they have in their other optical products. Wonder if they are sourcing the components or is this Denks own take on H-Alpha? If you already outlayed for the PST and its still in good working order (mine is serial# 103953, Meade built in Irvine, about 2 yrs old) then for essentially another outlay for a second PST you get into a whole other level of performance. My Lunt 50mm filter shows added resolution over the PST so I can imagine additional improvement from 50 to 60mm. This is something I while definately keep an eye on for future consideration. Especially after this weekend's encouraging solar display!

Russ has done some work with Coronado in the past... if I am not mistaken, Denkmeier contributed to the SOL finder used the PST.
