Hello
These are some sketches from last month's observations in Negev Desert in Israel (as usual ) ..
The conditions were not bad, though not perfect due to some dust. I was focusing mostly on nebulae (since I could use my ultrablock filter on them, which really helped).
The telescope I used was my Orion skyview pro 8" newtonian.
It was our monthly starparty, with ~10 telescopes around.
On the attached file: M52 and the bubble nebula.
To be honest I couldn't see the "bubble" itself even using a 12.5" dob with various filters. however the brightest part of the nebula was easily visible, alone with the M52 open cluster in same field of view.

The crescent nebula - ngc6888. the nebula itself was clearly visible with ultrablock filter (which blocked the milky way light, revealing the nebula).

Michael,
Your sketches are really well done and capture the shape and star positions and sizes really well. Just like looking through the eyepiece. Well done.

Wow, Micheal. Those are stunning sketches. I wish I could sketch half that well.

Michael,
Excellent observations of the Bubble Nebula, Box Nebula, Crescent Nebula, and NGC 4361. You must enjoy very good transparency at your desert site. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Yep I had a lot of fun observing that night probably because it was my first starparty after several months break. (Anyway I'll have a new set soon, from last weekend observations)

I love the faint/subtle outer extents of the nebulae - so delicately rendered.
I've looked for the bubble nebula before but never long/hard enough to find it. People have said it wasn't visible (at all), though I'll try again at our dark site.

Hello,
The bubble definately showed nebulocity around the bright star. however I wasn't able to see the thin extensions of the nebula which should form the "bubble". (I think it should be observed with relatively high power, and larger aperture).
I remember seeing a sketch, somewere in internet, showing these extensions and part of the "bubble".

Beautiful sketch work! Well documented; and your layout with consistent framing and accompanying technical data is as if it could be compiled for a future book.
I'm inspired to get back to darker skies [where I lived for 30 years] to eventually try some DSO's but for now I am confined to the inner city so the moon is easy for me.
I look forward to seeing your future sketches,
Mark
