Today a new sun spot group appeared! And a nice one too, so I took my Polarex 3" outside for a sketch. A lot of detail was visible! The image is a composite of two pencil sketches on white paper. The one at the top right is made through a 12,5mm Ortho, the one at the lower left through a 6mm Ortho.
The sketch is digitally altered in Photoshop (gradient, color, orientation, contrast). I dit no further altering in the spots themselves.

Roel,
An outstanding observation/rendering of an interesting sunspot group. Your renderings appear as photographs of the Sun and sunspot group. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Roel,
Nice sketches of this sunspot group. Initially I thought I was looking at photos. Very sharp.

Truly one up to par with the best white light sketches I've seen. Wonderfully rendered! What would the magnification be with your scope using the 6mm EP?

Very nice, Roel!
What kind of filter did you use for your observation, Roel?

Thanks all!
@Erix: The magnification with a 6mm eyepieces is 200x. @Rodelaet: I used a Baader Astrosolar filter. The yellowish colour in the sketch is purely for nice looks. In reality the image of the sun is white.

Very nice renderings. I'll have to take a look through my Thousand Oaks glass white light filter and possibly the h-alpha too.
As Frank said, I too thought these images were photographs. Unusual that there seems to be no penumbra surroundng the unmbras.
Thnks for posting and the heads up!

My first thought when I saw this was what is a photograph doing in the sketching forum? Very nicely done.

Roel,
Very nice presentation and impressive digital processing. I hope you get another look at this sunspot group--it seems to be sticking around.
