Can the ETX125AT track the ISS?
      #3223056 - 07/17/09 09:41 AM

Lots of viewing opportunities for the International Space Station these next few weeks. Can the ETX track the ISS?
It is moving much too quickly for my fat thumbs to keep it centered.

Thanks

Well YES------- and NO. But this software will help:

Satellite Tracker go join their Yahoo group and download the free software; everything must be perfect, time must be very accurate, the scope must be very well aligned; you may still need to use the hand controller to keep the ISS in the eyepiece even with the software.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I joined the group.
I also cycled my battery. I'll play around with the scope this evening. I have a small window to view.
Maybe by Thursday of next week (4 minute window and much higher in the sky!) I will get a good viewing.
the shuttle hooked up yesterday, so the target is a little bit larger.

Report back about the software, after you test it. Did it keep up with the ISS? I believe on the 497 hand controller the scope does NOT continuously track but moves in "jumps" --
