Greetings.
For a long time I observe the Moon, I make sketches.
Has decided to lay out for your discussion the work. Work is executed in the technics of drawing new to me. On a black paper a white pastel.
The size of a paper 8 "х 11".

As at our forums why that is ignored by sketches, only photograph.
I find this employment very interesting and weakening.
Here many fans do sketches, I hope for criticism and wishes.

Crater Gassendi, telescope SW MAK150OTA PRO.

PS I Write with translator, therefore excuse for errors.

Welcome to the Astro Sketch Forum Sci!

(* Sorry I tried to add a Russian translation below but the CN format will not copy it.)

Beautiful sketch work. White pastels on black paper! You're in my league!

Be careful about insulting the photographers as they only dream of sketching. Actually some of us do both

Yes there have been debates for years about hand drawn sketching [art] versus photographs. Photography is important in our modern world and of course we rely on it to record our art. It is also proven that the mind is engaged profoundly in the deepest intuitive process when sketching and producing artwork from a blank slate. In this way, art and photography should not be compared. They are in separate schools of practice and each is deserving of its own rights. I personally have transgressed back to preferring hand drawn art as it is more involved and rewarding for me.

I look forward to seeing more of your sketches,

I have a dream that one day Americans, Russians and all people of the world will walk on the moon together and produce sketch art from its surface! -M 2009

Sci Rosso,

Very good sketch using black paper and white pastel--I am still learning this technique. Your sketch turned out well.

Welcome to CN and the Sketching Forum Sci Rosso!

Your sketch is beautifully accurate and very well executed. It's not always easy to sketch "white on black" when you are used to sketching the other way around! However, you have produced an excellent drawing on your first try with this medium. Gassendi and the area around it are thrilling, you have captured the crater at a time when most of the floor is covered in shadow, it's broken wall and the dramatic central peaks still lit by the last rays of lunar day. Superb sketch Sci!

I did notice that north and south are mislabeled on your sketch.

Sci, you will find many resources here for learning new techniques and approaches to astronomical sketching. But even more importantly, the people who post here are always willing to help with any questions you may have about this wonderful pass time of ours. We all learn from each other!

I thank for comments and good estimations.
I will be improved in the technics.
Really, I drew only in black and white.
It is my first experience.
In general I am final anywhere did not learn to draw.
Drew and studied.
Very high level of drawing in my opinion at markseibold.
I admire your skill.
Very much collages with a kind of craters and a kind "from a crater" were pleasant.
I will study at you!

PS And certainly it is necessary to raise the level of English language.
I think dialogue with colleagues speaking in English to me very much will help!

Hello...
New sketch...
Hevelius...
It is executed on a black paper, a white pastel.
There are many errors as time already was pre-dawn, and I strongly hastened...

Nikolay,

Welcome to the Cloudy Nights Sketching Forum. Your observations of Gassendi and Hevelius are excellent. The white pastel on black paper is an nice way of capturing the recorded regions. I look forward to your future observations.

Carlos

Nikolay, I can tell you will very much enjoy sketching. Do not worry about the language issue, your sketches and comments are both good. Look forward to more of your observations.
