subject: 2009/07/27 Jupiter green light observation
________________________________________________
This nicely illustrates the contrast of the impact spot. Even in poor seeing and low altitude it's an obvious object
subject: green light high contrast image
23:48 UTC CM2=259 green channel HC
altitude 24° in poor seeing. The green channel image
was choosen as it had best separation of impact spt
off the limb darkening (10inch Newtonian )

No, but if I get another chance to observe Jupiter I'll try it.

Used an Optica b/c 1970's green #11 on the spot last night, in good seeing, much detail was seen at 200X when Jupiter reached the meridian.

How did the view compare to the non-filtered view? Any more or less contrast?

i use #11 and a lt. green #58 filter on jup and it always enhances the bands, the impact is a high contrast feature but it is still darker using the green filter visually also i use a 6" achro C6R for observing which is best corrected for green anyway.

Ralf,
An excellent image of Jupiter and the Wesley Comet Impact Scar (WCIS) in green light. A green filter (Wratten 56 or 58) will darken both red and blue features over the atmosphere of Jupiter. A favorite filter of mine for observing Jupiter is a blue-green filter (W64). Thank you for sharing it with us all.
Carlos
