how important is it to upgrade your AutoStar? i have a AutoStar #497 43E and i saw on meade that they have a new one. i have the #505 cables but i have a mac and haven't been able to get them to work!
is it really important to upgrade the AutoStar?

Not very, unless there's something specific in the upgrade you'd like. I believe mine's also 43E and I've thought about installing the latest version, but I heard you'd got to be careful since the #497 itself was recently re-designed and the latest firmware may not run on the older #497's. There's some discussion of this on Mike Weasner's Mighty ETX Site.

Each version corrects a few "bugs" -- the latest version is 43Eg.
It works just fine on my ETX90, and on my LX90.
