Hi All,
I got one of these scopes this weekend with a purchase of an NGC-Max for my C8 Deluxe, my intent was to sell it right away. After spending the weekend with this little guy, I may just keep it! It has the JMI Encoders, MotoFocus, and MotoDec add-ons as well.
I do have the dreaded Secondary Baffle creep as discribed here: Secondary Baffle Project - Can I still get a new adhesive ring from Meade or are there better suggestions? Also, the finder is near useless, is there a good recommendation for a Red Dot? I have Daisy that I got from WalMart on my C8D but they don't seem to carry them any more. I will keep perusing Weasners and this board but any other starter tips or recommendations for getting the most out of this older scope are greatly appreciated!

I bought a basic Orion red dot finder and a base. I super glued the base to the tube (make sure there is room for the dew cap) and it works great. A flexi-focus makes the focuser more useful. David

Thanks, ordered a silver for $14.40 shipped. Didn't feel like paying another $10 for black and I can always paint it myself. I appreciate the tip!

You can try calling Meade, but the people I've heard from who've done so about this problem have not received much in the way of support of late from what I'm told.

I just spoke with Francisco at Meade Support. They are only $0.65 each (part number 21-0014-01) but a minimum shipping of $5.00 so I ordered 7 for a cost of $8.85.
If anyone else needs one and I will send it out, just PM me. Given how nice the previous owner of this scope was to me, this is part of my paying it forward!
