Hello.
I have the Celestron Regal Lx 8x42 binocular.I bought them from Astronomics when they were blowing them out for less than $200.I have always found it difficult to adjust the diopter setting and the eyecups are hard to pull out completely to their second click-stop.Now the right eyecup will only pull out to it's first click-stop and when you try to adjust the diopter the rubber armor on the eyepiece slips and has no effect on the diopter setting.
Because these bins have a lifetime warranty I am thinking about sending them in to Celestron for repair.I am worried that perhaps they can't be repaired and Celestron will replace them with something else. These days Celestron has nothing that even comes close to the Regals in optical quality so i am a bit concerned.
Has anybody had to recently return their Regals for warranty work and if so what was the outcome and how long did it take??

I wish I could under warranty. Same thing with my diopter control. I am ready to turn this into a monocular. Square Peg sent his in to be repaired and it was fixed.

Yes it is good to hear.I am shipping mine off to Celestron in a few days.I phoned Celestron for a return repair number and they were very helpful.I learned that if they cannot fix my binocular they will replace it with something of similar value such as a pair of bins, spotting scope, etc. So no worries although I would like the Regals over all else.

I wonder why all of the 8X are stiff, but the 10X are not?

Well it's been a month since I shipped my Regal's to Celestron and now they are back in my hands .Celestron says they cleaned and collimated them as well as fixed the right diopter and both eyecups.I wasn't aware that they needed cleaning or collimating,I guess that's a standard procedure they do for repairs.
The eyecups are much much easier to pull out to their clickstops and the diopter adjust is like it should be,easy to adjust.I'm a happy camper.

I think you should rename this thread "Celestron Regal repair".. Both times I have seen the title of the thread, once back in August, and now, I get excited, because I think maybe you have info about Celestron starting to make the Regal line of binoculars again..
No such luck I guess..
Glad to see you got your binos fixed though..

That would be great if they did bring them back or something similar but I fear that may never happen.Being that they also discontinued the Noble line as well(another excellent bin for the money)it looks like they are no longer going to sell premium bins. I'm guessing that if they did bring a Regal-like binocular to market it would be priced accordingly(ex. Regal LX 8x42 sug.ret$500-$600).

I have no experience with the Regal binoculars other than the great reviews I have read on the web, but I have two pairs of Nobles as you can see in the sig.. I really enjoy the Nobles, there is a guy on Ebay selling Nobles for cheap. I got both of mine from him, and he is still selling the 10x42 Nobles for $125 bin brand new..

Yeah the Nobles are good and at $125 for the 10x42's that's a steal of a deal.I had the 8x42 Noble and sold them to my friend because of the deal I got on the Regal's. As you can see I have the 10x28 Noble. They are excellent for tossing in the glove box of the car or my lunch box at work(I work out doors).A 10x50 Noble would be a nice addition to my collection

I would like to say that if you don't buy a Celestron product with a "Lifetime" warranty from a Celestron authorized dealer and keep the original receipt you will have to pay for repairs if needed. I have a 8x42 Regal LX with the diopter problem right now, it "was" an excellent binocular and it is not usable right now.
