My New Old ETX 90 looking for information
      #3286470 - 08/21/09 07:21 PM

I just bought a Meade ETX 90. I have never seen one like it fork mount and base are all metal with a nice black crinkle paint job made in Japan, optics made in USA. Meade website is no help. Optics look good but have not tested them yet, rain and clouds due to new scope. Serial number 428203. Help!

I went there and downloaded three different etx-90 manuals they are not this model. This appears to be pre-goto.

The early ETX-90's have were re-designated the ETX-90RA (Right Ascension) after the GoTo versions came out. Try Mike Weasner's Mighty ETX site for information (www.weasner.com).

I have a non-goto that appears to be the first model of ETX 90, before they had the RA model it has almost no plastic and is AC with no place for batteries.

I have an older 90RA that I use from time to time. It takes AA batteries that really last forever. I got a great alignment this past Saturday and Jupiter and the Moon were tracking quite well.

I have a manual for it. If you want, PM me and I can email you a copy.

Cheers!

It is a maksutov not a schmidt, front corrector tells me that. I will post pics soon. It is awesome on Jupiter.

can't wait to see the pics. Meade did a few runs of low number scopes, like the 2045 all brass model I once saw. If it's got an AC mount it must be older! I've seen a couple Meade scopes over the years only once. As if they were a prototype of test market or such.
