The Questar Forum on Yahoo has a number of Posts and File Pictures that shos this. The base is covered in detail and the OTA is also covered. Normally the OTA is off limits due to the alignment upon reassembly but a few Posts are shown from people that have done it. The relative low price that Questar charges for complete tear down and reasmebly with replacement of all aged cork parts, washers, screws, cleaning and optic collimation is well worth it and needs to be done about every 5 years. They also buff and wax it. When in doubt send it to Mother at New Hope, Luck, Bill

Hi Bill Thank you for the info. I don't think I'm interested in tearing apart the OTA but....maybe someday. I've spent two decades working on analytical instruments but to dissassemble without the necessary knowlege is asking for surprises. Thank you again for your information, Gary

Gary,
I would really suggest that you join the Yahoo-Questar Forum. It does not cost anything to join (will take the Forum a day or so to get back with the approval). They have pictures of many parts that were taken and they have point by point instructions to solve problems and the taking apart of the base.
There are a number of cork parts that need to be replaced when you put it back together and thin pressure washers that have lost their curve. These parts would need to be ordered from Questar along with other items you might find when you take it apart.
I do not know of any parts diagram of a Q, maybe others do.
Luck, Bill

Hi Bill Thank you again. An exploded view parts diagram would be nice to have. I can't help my personality and career biases. While I appreciate my Questar I have the impression Questar will not normally sell internal parts. Perhaps that will keep me out of trouble! Thanks again Gary
