Thanks for posting that add-on Joe. I've been pouring over everyone's helpful tips and so far really like Stellarium!

Hi all. I bought etx-125at for 750euros from our dealer ,and from what i read it must be a very good choise ( i havent use my telescope yet ). Although i have some inquiries. 1.my etx has the red dot viewfinder. Is it a new model? 2.When the red dot is on? It has the battery from the store i turn the knob and nothing happens so i wonder if i have to buy a new one.
I am looking forward to make the alignment and point it to the sky.

Hello and welcome John!
The easiest way to turn your SmartFinder red dot on and off is to hit the zero ("0") key, which also turns your little red LED utility light on the hand controller on and off.
You're not the first person to notice this lack of simple instruction; Meade apparently has never seen fit to revise their manual to include this very elementary piece of information.
There is, in fact, another way to turn the red dot on; it involves pressing and holding the "Mode" button for around 2 seconds, and then using the controller's navigation buttons to go to the Finder: Set menu option. This is the round-about route, but it does work.
Congratulations on your new telescope! I'm certain you'll be quite happy with it once you get it up and running! We'll be looking forward to hearing your first light report!

Thanks a lot! But i tried both and doesnt turn on. In my autostar menu after pushing the 'mode' for two sec. there isnt Finder category. ( Maybe this is because I havent installed any new firmware ). What do you think? Maybe is the battery.

Try hitting the Light (Zero) button again, but look at the finder from the front. You should see the small fiber optic cable emitting light from the ridge just behind the finder window. If you can't see this, it's possible it got pushed up inside the housing of the finder/LNT module. If that's the case, you may have to disassemble the LNT and try to poke the fiber optic back out through the hole in the housing.
Sometimes sticking a sheet of white paper between the dot emitter and the finder window can help you see if the dot is on and where it's pointed. Give that a try as well.
