Several years back, I bought a set of cheap wooden legs for my Orion Astroview EQ mount but let them go with the mount when I sold it. I would like to get another set as I am going to buy another Orion mount just like the one I had before... These cheap legs came with everything needed to make a quick change and they were very strong and made leg vibration totally go away!
Anyone have a link for cheap wooden legs?

The set of legs from Hands On Optics in Maryland is the set that I had! I bought these from Gary Hand in person at his lovely store when I was still in the Army about 5-years ago. Thanks, Jim :-)
And thank you too, Ron! These legs from Oberwerk are even finer in construction than the ones I got from Gary :-)
Me thinks I will order some in the next few days!
Thanks again to both of you and clear skies,
Jeff

Sorry Jeff I just can't help myself.
If you really need some wooden legs check out "Long John Silver's Emporium, Eye Patch and Custom Cutlass Supplies"
Outside of that nothing works better than well made wooden tripod legs.

Sidebar discussion, if I may...
I've got a Vixen GP mount coming, without legs, and am wondering whether I should get a set of wooden legs (Hands-On-Optics version looks good...and the price is right) or try to find a set of the Vixen Hal 130/110 aluminum legs. I don't think the weight will be a factor with either...stability is more important to me for this setup.
It's hard to tell from the photo's on line, but do the HOO wood leg sets and the Vixen leg sets both have the north azimuth adjustment knob on them?
Thanks for the opinions!

Patrick I have an EQ3 on a HAL 110. It really is a very stable tripod. Light years ahead of the Synta aluminium beer can jobs. I think you are asking if the HAL 110 tripod head has the Az adjustment lug? Yes it does, positioned over one tripod leg.

Hi, Patrick.
I believe that the HOO leg sets are just that - leg sets. You must supply your own hub. If you get those, let me know and I'll give you an extra hub (with North peg) that I have available.

John,
Very kind of you for the offer...sending you a PM. I didn't understand from the HOO ad that they were just the legs, but that makes sense since they are a 'replacement' leg set...assumes that you already have the hub.
Thanks much!
Patrick
