Jupiter goes "Moonless" tonight 9/2-3
      #3310038 - 09/02/09 08:23 AM

A fairly rare event...

http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/highlights/52543517.html

Not only will Jupiter apear "moonless" for nearly two hours, beginning 12:43 a.m. EDT, but there's a great "dance" of occultations, transits, and shadow transits before and after. If you view through the night, you'll see two transits, two shadow transits (both simultaneous for a time), two occultations, two eclipses, and four (!) re-appearances!

Clear skies!

Jim
