Colleagues, I have a Baader sky-surfer III red-dot finder attached to my ETX 125. I have attached it with double-sided tape underneath, then above the dove-tail bracket with velcro. It still is way too wobbly for my taste. Any suggestions for securely mounting the finder?
Thanks, Paul

I used the gel super glue to attach the base of the Orion red dot finder to my wife's ETX 90. Works like a charm.

I mounted my Rigel Quick Finder using two cable ties. I used 24" ties and just cut the excess off.

The 3M double sided tape sold at most auto parts stores works the best. AND- you can remove it later using dental floss worked underneath.
Like Swamp Fox I mounted a Rigel Quickfinder on my ETX90 using the above 3M tape.

The best solution is to use a stainless steel hose tie. This is much better than any tape or glue. I have a 8x50 finder (0.5kg) attached to my ETX-125 using this method and I can tell you it's perfect. I can also remove it anytime.

I also used double sided tape to mount my Rigel Quickfinder on my ETX-125PE and it has been there three years now without any problems. Buddy

I use the 3M "Command Strips". I just moved my modified Daisy Red Dot from the Celestar to the ETX. The Command strips held it on the big scope for 6 years without issue and came off quickly and cleanly with just a tug.

Is that a 2" EP adapter on an ETX? If so, how well do they work and where can I get one?

Ummm, the field will be limited by the baffles in the tube, and/or by the size of the diagonal mirror. So quite what the point is, is a mystery, to me.

Dangermouse, what RDF is that mounted on your scope? I like the larger viewing window versus the one I have now.

That RDF is a GSO unit which came from Agena Astro

Good quality construction at a fair price; I've been pleased with it :-)

My two cents here: From some time I began to consider a Telrad for my ETX-125PE. This scope came with an excellent Goto and the red finder mounted is just fine for the alignments. So why the Telrad? Well, I bought the ETX because its excellent optics and I always considered the goto as some kind of cheating. The Telrad is excellent for learning how to star hooping, and I prefer the Telrad instead the Quick finder since the Telrad has the 4 deg circle and no parallax. So, after read your posts I ordered a Telrad and it fits fine on the ETX. I was able to mount the Telrad on the tube of my ETX-125PE with no problems; there is sufficient space along the tube. Now I will try to use it (it is raining here), and I will let you know how it works.
