OK Group. I'm going to start off our "new" venue by including this frame of the Penobscot Bridge in Maine. I took this during my visit with the Nightfly. He also helped me to refine the balance of the frame. Thanks Jim.
The shot includes the old bridge - which is no longer in use, but is home to some Osprey's nesting there. The new suspension bridge is a beauty. Those white cable strands light up at night and is quite a sight. They shut down the lights at 11 pm. I'd love to re-shoot this same set up but much earlier in the morning to catch a deeper blue sky. This would frame the far end cables much better. There is an observational deck at the top of that spire encased in glass. No - I did not go up there. Too busy trying to shoot those Osprey's as they flew buy.

I'm encouraging others to dig through your slides and negs and post your photos here. It's a wonderful world out there to enjoy. You can go to a theatre, or go out for something to eat, OR spend the money on a roll of film and get out there.
This is a frame I call the Acadia Tree, as it was shot at that park in Maine when visiting with the Nightfly. Gems like this tree are waiting for discovery.
Shot with a Pentax 67 - 90 lens @ f4 - shutter at .60 - polarizing filter - Ektar 100 shot at ISO 64 developed normally. This film is exceptional for landscape work and is so easy to scan.
Comments are encouraged - but more than that - discussions about photography as well. What worked - what did I see - what was I looking for?

Ok, I'll post one from around the year 2000. I took the family to St Augustine early one morning hoping to get some shots of the lighthouse with the sunrise as a backdrop. The lighthouse is surrounded by trees, and I couldn't find a place west of the lighthouse to shoot it.
I did find a boat landing at what I later found out was the St Augustine Yacht Club.

This one was taken a little while later, and I found a nice twisty tree to include.

Great frames Tommy and thank you for sharing them and the short stories. I'm actually amazed at how my eye fits your photos. I believe I see the scene as you saw it. I'm not just looking at it as a picture.
Great stuff. Common guys - dig em out, fire up those scanners and post those photographs. If you don't have the specs, no big deal, but tells us about the shot so that we can share the experience.
Igor - ahem - Jim - Fireworks mayhaps, and something about a pond?

This frame was taken from the Penobscot Bride looking towards this white framed town of Bucksport. The light was wrong - around noon, but that's what I had to work with. I would love to shoot this with a sun going down to bring the blue out in the sky without those thin clouds, and for the rays to highlight the white buildings. A much darker ocean lying before it. Some day.
Pentax 67 - 135 lens at f8 - .60 - polarizer filter set to dark - Ektar 100 shot as ISO 64. Could probably use a better hand at Photo Shop.

Sullivan Daze fireworks on Ektar 100.
This frame was cropped at least 50%. The film records colors vividly and is a great fireworks film.

South Beach, Martha's Vineyard, June, 2009. There was a nor'easter spinning off the coast which provided some nice light and color. I climbed up one of the lifeguard stands to shoot this and was nearly blown off by the wind gusts.

Great shots Brendan. That's a beautiful sunset. I think I will submit my shots at 500 pixels on a side as well from now on, much much sharper. Small, but sharper.
Anybody else?

What an exceptional sunrise. I just get lost in it. Love that Rollei not to mention the character of the Astia film.
The tones in the red - orange are endless. That is THE quality of film. Jim's frames of the water - the difference in character between the Centuria and Ektar is there, but in each case, the quality of the water is amazing. I can see, and feel the wetness.
I can feel the sun rising in your frame - waiting for the warmth of the rays to eventually warm my face - but at a cost of the majestic view. I've got to see this frame in full size. Jim's fireworks at full frame just opens everything up. Needs a link.
To those of you looking in - please step inside. Bring what you have and share your favourites. This is a thread that will hopefully encourage all to enjoy film and the fruits of it's enjoyment.
What I'm hoping for is a place where photos and words are shared regarding the pictures. A chance to not only post pictures, but talk about them as well. I've visited the "Forum which has no Film" and they sure have a plethora of images posted - I mean one after another. No mention of exposure, or the wind in the lifeguard tower, nothing. Just shoot, post, one after another with little comment or interaction. To each his own. To me - this Film Forum has brought new friends - exchanges - and a sharing of life's experiences.
Reminds me of that Discovery Channel thing where they do the "I love the whole world" - BOOMBEATAH thing.

Jim, the reflections of the trees in the water are fantastic. Look at the green in the water. I can feel the wetness visually.
Great perspective and image balance. I just keep coming back and looking at all these photos. So much to see and learn just by looking - again.

Then there is taking B&W - and using the HDR (high dynamic range) of the scanner and not inverting the image. Looks like a Infrared image. I love the effects.
Just for fun. Jim's borrowed 55 lens. Same tree as above - different angle.

Here's a quick & dirty composite of two frames of the same sunrise. Same camera and film. I didn't have a tripod with me and instead held the camera against a wooden railing. Provincetown and the Pilgrim Monument are on the left. It was springtime and still quite chilly on the water. I'm usually not up this early but standing inside scenes like this provide such an adrenaline rush that I was neither tired or cold while shooting these.

Another great frame. I'm not an early riser either - but for these scenes - anytime. That rush is something special. Takes awhile to subside, and it kind of get buried sometimes after awhile dealing with typical duties in life.
Photos like these help to rekindle it. I gotta get out there.
Thanks for these shots. Igor
