September 13th 2009 - A Promtastic Morning!
      #3330999 - 09/13/09 05:37 AM

Another gorgeous blue sky morning here for me in the West Midlands, so first order of the day is to get the solar rig out.

The limb of the sun is alive with proms today! 2 impressively large and complex ones on the NE and SE (I think? is that right?) limb, but then numerous smaller ones dotted around elsewhere - one of them maybe a tall looping arch that we're seeing from an oblique angle? I think someone with more aperture may be able to resolve / confirm this? *cough, cough, Mr Robertson* Disk wise things are pretty featureless (@40mm) - looks like another 'orange peel' day here...

CaK wise there are 3 small but complex areas visible, apart from that it's a bog standard blue speckled egg shell type of a disk.

I may try and get some captures, problem is the lappys screen is totally dead now, so it is running through a seperate display. This doesn't pose a problem to a determined solar stormtrooper though - just means I have to take the monitor outside with me The key decider in this though is whether the mrs wants to use the pc today - if she does no imaging, if she doesn't things are looking good

Either way, if the suns up and out, and you have Ha capability get yourself outside and take a look at our nearest star, today is a good one

That is one of the biggest proms I have ever seen!
WoW, WoW, WOW!!! Got it JUST before the clouds rolled in. Awesome sight people!

EDIT: 90 minutes later, and that prom looks like it burst! It reminds me a photographic image of a nebula! What detail!!!

It sounds like your mrs might have a blackmailing oppertunity today
Managed a good hour and a half before the clouds came in today, nice to have some nice proms and deep blue skies.
