M-97's Central Star illusion...
      #3340321 - 09/17/09 08:36 PM

I'm probably the only person getting this optical illusion but I'll throw it out there anyway. Its persistent and reoccurring so here goes..

Anyone ever get M-97 central start illusions with an OIII in place. I think I get them [and they most certainly are illusions] because with the OIII it looks closer to a photo of itself and my mind is filling in what i KNOW is there.

Interesting, at least where I've observed it from with my 8", Ive not been able to see the central star - though admittedly, my fav mags are 90 to 121x. Maybe if I blew it up with 300x it'd pop, but the nebula would be hoplessly lost.

Pete
