nytecam I'm going to show my ignorance by saying I do not understand all this scientific mumbo jumbo. But your images are way cool anyway LOL

I must buy a few books this winter and try to understand what you are attempting to show us.

Some years back some commercial outfit was selling used ETX 125 OTAs on ebay. They looked a little different from the OTA that comes with the mount. Different paint. I checked into them and it seems Meade makes/made them for this purpose. This company used them in laser work and iirc the OTAs all went in the 300 to 400 dollar range.

So they are indeed used for science
