Best video capture software for CCD imaging?
      #3344578 - 09/20/09 10:36 AM

Planetary/lunar imaging is what I'm talking about. What say ye?

I've been using AMCAP that came with my Neximage, but I have a sneaky suspicion that there are better/easier alternatives that are also affordable. Am I right?

The DL SE that came with my Orion camera works nice but I think the wxAstroCapture mentioned above has more potential. Both allow you to build a picture file of so many frames then save with an indexing file name. If DSS Live is running at the same time and watching the capture folder it will stack and display the accumulating image. I'll be trying this for planetary and DSO shots after the time change and Florida thunderstorms die off. This should solve the field rotation problem with Az-Al mounts like the 6SE.

For $39.95 HandyAvi is very good. I especially like the fact that I can control my mount as I am making the movie.
