Milky Way, M31, M33, M8, and the double cluster.

Here are some binocular and naked eye sketches I did from Janes Island State Park. According to the light pollution map it's in the bright end of the green zone.

With the limited time I had and the difficulty in sketching with hand held binoculars there is very little accuracy in these sketches; I simply marked where the more obvious things are and stippled in to fill in an appropriate level of background.

The Milky Way with a missing section, I did this one over two nights so I didn't realize I had spliced it together until the sketch was done:

M33, much more visible through the binoculars than through the XT10 from home:

The Lagoon, I believe m20 was also visible, but I couldn't confirm it with how small it is:

TenthEnemy,

These are stunningly beautiful captures. I really like that naked eye Milky Way from Cygnus to Sagittarius. Actually I can't pick a favorite. They are all sketches I would be very proud of if I were you. And you used hand held binoculars? Wow, that is impressive.

Frank

Awesome sketches. Is that stock 2 in your double cluster sketch?

Yes, that is the first time I've ever seen it. I didn't know what I was sketching at the time, but it was too pretty to omit.

According to that sketch, definitely rivals the double cluster itself.
I've found it to be pretty even with a mere 1 degree FOV.

TE,

An excellent and very well executed observations of various celestial targets. The Milky Way observation appears as if we are standing next to you. Thank you for sharing them all with us all.

Carlos

Tenth

Nice set of sketches! I especially like your Andromeda viewed thorugh binoculars. You've rendered a realistic image the way I remember it with binoculars from my parents front yard as a kid.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you all very much for the comments. I decided to take another picture of my Milky Way sketch and reprocess it. If you're wondering, the gradient isn't accidental, it's the Crisfield light dome.

Tenth,

I love your Double Double sketch and find M31, M33 and the Lagoon just superbly captured. Your star placement and nebula are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

It just boggles my mind how 50mm under medium-dark skies can outperform 11" under light polluted and moon polluted skies.

Incredible sketching. I feel like I am there!
