Is Bogen 128 RC head ok for 20x60 pentax binos?
      #3349454 - 09/22/09 04:20 PM

I am thinking about buying this head for use with my Pentax 20x60's. Money's tight so a 501 hdv head is not in the cards.

FYI: this head will attach to my old Bogen 3221 photo tripod rated for 15+ pounds, extends to 73", multi-position legs. Currently I have a 3-way head (#3030) with quick release plates that match the 128RC head... however the movements are either locked or loose without any damping of the motion.

Pentax 20x60 pcf wp II weigh 3.01 pounds and are nealy 9 inches long.

Anyone have experience with this head and binoculars?

Thanks.

this is a nice head for binocs up to about 5-6#, 8# maximum if you had to.

I don't have experience with those binoculars, but I do with this head and it is just fine to support such a light weight binocular since it is rated for devices 3 times heavier.

Save $20 and order the overstock 128RC head.

I have used both together, and will second/third/fourth that it's a fine choice.

The 128RC will be fine for the Pentax 20x60.
I've been using my 128RC for my 22x85 (10 pounds) for two months.
The combo 128RC & Manfrotto Triman works fine for the 22x85 so there shouldn't be any problem with your Pentax.
