Focal ratio of bino objectives new
      #3349952 - 09/22/09 08:09 PM

Here is a question for you bino experts; what is the average focal f ratio of bino lenses. I have been told that most 35 to 100 mm binos are about f 3.5. Is that true? The reason I ask is that many years ago I had a pair of 100mm binos and they were very colorful. Today I have a 102mm F 6.5 achro and the color isn't too bad.

A closer value to average would probably be f/3.8. I've seen then vary from f/3.3 to f/4.5 in the more conventional forms, but there are some 'long ones' at closer to f/6. Then there's the Vixen 80mm bino-scope which uses f/11 objectives.
