The International Year of Astronomy 2009 has begun. What "New Media" are you watching or listening to?
There are a lot of high quality Podcasts in both Audio, Video and (HD) video to choose from featuring Science, Astronomy, Physics and more. I could go on and make a big list but, I think I will leave that to you.
What are you watching? or listening to? What's REAL GOOD and worth passing on?
I'll start with: Singularity Television It's a 24/7 Live Web TV Channel featuring Astronomy programming celebrating IYA2009. You'll find Hubblecast Specials, Chandra, Spitzer, Fermi missions and lots more.
So what New Media are you watching?

Hello,
It’s with great pleasure that we inform you that we have been able to come up with the largest IYA 2009 project of Sri Lanka; namely STAR PARTY 2009. In fact this is the 6th successive year that we are organizing Star Party as an astronomy project in South Asia region. Basically Star Party is a competition, where students from different parts of the island compete to win the the competition that is generally focused on following segments of astronomy.
1.Observation
2. Rocketry
3. Cosmology
4. Astrophysics
We embarked on the project in 2004, as the primordial observation competition is South Asia and since then we have been able to annually hold the event and has seen reputation as an Observation Competition and Astronomy Workshop over the years.
Star Party 2009 will take place at the premises of University of Peradeniya, Kandy, Sri Lanka from 6.00 pm (local time) (12:30 UTC/GMT or 08:30 EDT) onwards on 25th September 2009. The project will last for more
than 12 hours and already 500+ participants confirmed for Star Party. The event is organized by the Anandian Astronomical Association, of Ananda College and Astronomical Society of Mahamaya Girls’ College, Kandy as an
affiliated project.
In the year 2009, which is IYA as well, we have decided to give live feed of the event via streaming at http://starparty2009.com/sp-09-live/ . You may also find custom information and archives of past events at the
official site at http://starparty2009.com/ . The live feed is especially aimed at education the global community about the event and enabling everyone to better understand the universe, suggesting the general theme “Universe is Yours to Discover”.
Therefore we need your generous support in getting necessary publicity for the event to better reach the scientific folk. We would be glad if you could grant us necessary publicity with IYA official website or any other
appropriate method, you suggest. ( Ex. This may be done by displaying our banner/ logo/ link in your website). Since this will be for few days (maximum 5 days) from today (23rd Sept) we envisage your fullest corporation in this regard.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Star Party 2009 Team
