New Name for NGC 457 The Owl; The ET OC or . . . new

WALL-E Cluster.

Was at a star party for the boy scouts last night and one of the objects I had in a dob was NGC 457. I asked the scouts if they saw an Owl or ET in the view and I got several scouts saying it looks like Wall-E from the Pixar movie. So, will the name change as this generation become the next amateur astronomers?

Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.

Well, as well as 'Owl' and 'ET' I have seen this called 'Johnny 5' like the little robot in Short Circuit and I think it looks very much like that. The cluster with the most nicknames...

This may be a generation thing because it looks like a jet fighter with it's afterburners on to me. The Owl's wings look like the sweptback wings of the fighter while the remaining stars extend out to a point at the front of the fuselage. I grew up in the 60's making models of Jet's.

That was a great time for some excellent jets. I still cant believe they developed the SR-71 back then.
