Please help spread the word; details are below.
Galileoscope signed by Battlestar Galactica and Felicia Day eBay item 140347449698 end time Oct-01-09 06:53:53 PDT http://bit.ly/v7U7e Details: The Galileoscope. is a high-quality, low-cost telescope kit developed for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 by a team of leading astronomers, optical engineers, and science educators. No matter where you live, with this easy-to-assemble, 50-mm (2-inch) diameter, 25- to 50-power achromatic refractor, you can see the celestial wonders that Galileo Galilei first glimpsed 400 years ago and that still delight stargazers today. These include lunar craters and mountains, four moons circling Jupiter, the phases of Venus, Saturn's rings, and countless stars invisible to the unaided eye. These scopes are available for sale at http://www.galileoscope.org. To raise money for this project we got part of the cast of Battlestar Galactica AND Felicia Day to sign a Galileoscope to auction for charity! (Actually, it was Felecia's Idea to start signing the box. Thanks for a great idea!) Autographs included: Felecia Day, Michael Hogan, Kandyse McClure, Alessandro Juliani, Mary McDonnell, Michael Trucco, Kate Vernon, Luciano Carro, Richard Hatch, and the BSG Science Advisor Kevin Grazier. (see picture). With this package, you get 1 amazing telescope, 2 eyepieces, and many great autographs! And for every $15 of your bid, we will donate 1 telescope to a needy school. If your donation isn't a multiple of $15 a donor has pledged to put in the remaining money to buy an additional scope. For instance, a bid of just $100 will put 7 telescopes in the hands of school children. This auction is being done by a newly formed non-profit, so your winning bid will be tax-deductible! Astrosphere New Media Association has been formed to help support IYA project into 2009. We are young, but we're here to stay. Please help make our first fundraising one that opens the universe up for as many children as possible by bidding often and bidding high. No returns. Buyer must pay shipping.
